Verdict
The Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam may ask for a patience to set up, but it's the cheapest alternative to a green screen for game streaming.
Despite the tedious setup process and a fair bit of software required for those without the wallet or space for a green screen, the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam is the next best thing for an affordable price, and in fact, it looks pretty damn good as well!
Design
The design of C922 is quite the same as the Logitech's C920. It is chunky, all-black casing, with microphones flanking both sides of the 1080p lens, as well as the same lengthy 6-foot cord sticking out the back. The camera onto your external monitor or your laptop lid is secured by the rear-mounted arm. However, C922 stands out with having a tripod, that features a 360-degree swivel mount and its legs can extend from 4.3 - 7.3 inches.
Picture and Sound Quality
The C922 takes excellent photos, and videos with clear audio. Whether you're holding a conference over Skype or playing Overwatch on Twitch, you're definitely going to look and sound good doing it. On the C922, the microphones record stellar sound.
Software and Streaming
The C922 comes with apps that are specifically designed for streaming. Logitech and Personify together built proprietary software called ChromaCam, that recognizes the streamer and creates a green-screen effect behind the person, which removes the background. In addition, you can pick various present backgrounds or upload your own image to serve as your backdrop. Logitech also adds a three-month license to XSplit Gamecaster and Broadcaster.
You are allowed to use XSplit for free and the subscription lets you edit recordings, remove backgrounds and get notifications about new followers. However, all this software might be overwhelming for those starting streaming setup from scratch. But if you already use XSplit Gamecaster or OBS to stream, adding ChromaCam is quite an easy process.
Also, C922 is more compatible with far more computers because the C922 opted for a software solution instead of Intel’s processor-powered 3D RealSense camera.
As Logitech doesn’t require Windows 10 or a 6th-generation Intel Core CPU, gamers with older rigs or running Windows 7 or 8 can easily use the C922 as well.
